“save Me” (a Psalm)

Psalm Sunday was yesterday at Trailhead (not Palm Sunday, that was a while ago).

To read up on that, click here. In a nutshell (nutshell) it was a time of sharing lament, thanksgiving, and praise, as the psalms do. For the heart. Sometimes poetically.

I wrote this song called “Save Me” (which I mentioned a little while ago), and sort of sang yesterday during the service.

I sat behind the drumset with a guitar on my lap, a very hot mic, a guitar strap which fell off my shoulder, a capo which wouldn’t stay put, and fingers which wouldn’t stop shaking. At least they matched my trembling voice. Such is life.

Probably very fitting in terms of the lyrics and the Psalm for which it was based: Pslam 39.

Either way here is the whole song, as it stands now. Hopefully, a lot less sucky than it was yesterday.

Save me: make me to smile again

Make me to know my ends
Measure my days, and all my ways
Teach me how frail I am
For surely, we walk in a vain land
So save me: make me to smile again

And now Lord, who do I wait for?
My hopes in you.
