Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Greyparty
I posted something here a few days ago, but apparently it was marked as “private” even though that was not my intension. Today I was going to delete it, only to find that it never really showed up for anyone else to see.
That makes me laugh a little bit. Probably saved me a lot of trouble in the future.
Niceness.
Well I should post something here though, so I will post a poem.
Being chosen
the gods have a propensity for rape.
take Zeus for example; he often came
upon a woman, planting life, reaping
her death in part. no mortal was ever
left whole, harried by the world, his family
and the welfare of her child. he gave little
support; would seldom visit. we excuse
his indiscretions; cite his troubled home
and a father who wanted him dead. then
there is Yahweh, the gentleman who knocks
up Mary and sends an emissary
to announce the honor. such scant regard.
his Greek counterpart had the courtesy
to ravish and at least show up himself.

I Am Back In Denver
I am working like a dog, spending my spring break grading. The school building contained me, the prinicpal and the custodians. That was it. Fun times. I haven’t eaten yet, and I’m a might bitter.
In other news I have bought a new computer, which is how I am able to be online right now. I had an BLOODY EXCELLENT time in Seattle, to the point where I was confronted with mulitple very good reasons to move out there. But here I remain. What can I say?
That is all for now. I need to get this thing set up, eat, and return to grading. Fun is my life.
Over The Hills And Upon The Mountains
I’m sitting here working on my major thesis which is due in over a year, because I’m insane, and starting listening to some old music I wrote. Been a REAL long time since I’ve even heard some of these songs. Like 3 year or so. Interesting experience. They don’t suck as much as I remember.
Then I remembered that some of them were posted on this site. Then I remembered that others weren’t.
I uploaded “Lift Up Your Heads” (which I wrote and sang back at DCC) and the original “Promises” which has an interesting history I won’t get into. But no, you won’t figure it out so don’t bother. It ISN’T about one person (Sorry to those of you who regularly try to psychoanalyze me through my music).
Let’s just say that things change. And it is suddenly occurring to me that the songs from this album have been popping in and out of my head since I’ve been here in Washington. Maybe it’s the ocean and mountain and woods which remind me of the environs I was in while I wrote many of these songs. Boston, New Hampshire, the back woods of Colorado.
Maybe I should be noticing something.
